Inventor of the multicultural piano. Dr. Shapira spent decades studying the Maqamat, Ragas, and Gamelan rhythms that Western instruments ignored. His research proved that the "universal" 12-tone system was actually a cage—one he dedicated his life to breaking.

MaqAmir Piano Studio is an expressive screen-based music instrument and complete production environment: contact-width touch dynamics, per-key sampling, analog synthesis, drum sequencing, multitrack looping, programmable FX, and 30s retrospective buffer recording — with sample-accurate sub-8ms timing. Limitless microtonality (135+ world scales and custom tunings) is built into the core — there when you want it, invisible when you don't.
No! You can play with your computer keyboard, mouse, or any standard MIDI controller. However, for the full experience, we support MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) controllers which allow you to slide between notes just like a vocalist or ud player.
The core MaqAmir Piano Studio is free to use. We believe these sounds should be accessible to everyone. Advanced features like the Synth Lab and recording studio have premium tiers, but the act of playing will always be open.
Yes. MaqAmir is a Progressive Web App (PWA). You can install it directly from your browser on iOS or Android and play anywhere. Our audio engine is optimized for mobile performance.
No. MaqAmir is designed to be the most accessible, instantly playable screen-based instrument and microtonal engine on glass — perfect for capturing spontaneous acoustic and electronic ideas anywhere. It doesn't replace massive studio plugins, it replaces the limitations of where and how you can create.

Yes. The AI Studio lets you capture multi-take recordings, and the Mix Studio provides multitrack mixing. You can export as 24-bit WAV files or share a playable web link that anyone can open without installing anything.
MaqAmir supports live jam sessions where multiple musicians connect in-browser. Each player gets their own instrument lane with independent tuning. The session host sets the scale and tempo, and everything syncs in real time with sub-10ms latency.
Absolutely. All recordings and configurations are stored locally on your device by default. Nothing is uploaded to our servers unless you explicitly choose to share a creation via a public link. We don't track what you play.
Yes. Beyond the 135+ built-in world scale systems (Maqam, Raga, Gamelan, etc.), you can define custom microtonal tunings with per-note cent adjustments. Save them as presets and share them as playable web links with other musicians.
